The RHOW Movement's newest church plant, RHOW Bronx, officially launched with weekly services on January 3rd, 2016. This launch followed a year and a half of monthly services and small groups which were geared towards developing relationships with those living in the Bronx in the hopes that ministry leaders and the first class of members would be born out of this process. In October of 2015, Raymond and I joined the RHOW Bronx launch team as our first ministry project as husband and wife! In the past seven months we have learned more than we could have imagined. In the months leading up to the launch we prayed, planned and prepared as much as we could.
During the first two services held we had over 80 people in attendance each week—most of which were Bronx residence! We were so excited to see something special happening in the Bronx. Souls were being saved, volunteers were stepping forward to serve, and God was moving. In the 3rd week of January, the unthinkable happened, we lost our meeting space! We had 5 days to secure another meeting space or else we would have to close the very doors that we had just opened to the community. As a team, we prayed and prayed and called over 60 churches in the Bronx asking for a temporary space but nothing was available. After doing all we could do, we trusted God to do what only HE could do. Without a meeting space we shifted our focus to small groups because after all the church is not a building, it’s the people.
By mid-February we were set to resume weekly services at Harvestfield Community Church, an established ministry in the Bronx who so kindly opened their doors to us. Since then, we have seen 3-5 salvations per week!! As first time Church Planters, this is so encouraging.
I have been blessed with the privilege of serving on the worship team since our launch and chains are being broken as we pressed in and worship the Lord together. I’ve also been using my administrative gifts to put together the weekly bulletin for the Bronx, as well as assisting RHOW Southern California and RHOW Hoboken in creating their bulletin. Ray has taken on the responsibility of being Head Usher and has done an excellent job of raising up new leaders in putting his team together. Ushering is a great place to start when someone wants to serve but doesn’t know where to start.
Moving forward we are so excited to see what God is going to do in the Bronx.
1. Please pray for the community outreach event we will be having in the Bronx next Saturday, April 29th. Pray that many would come to know Christ.
2. Pray for our marriage. Both Ray and I are working full time and doing ministry full time which doesn’t leave time for much else. Pray that God would protect our marriage during this time and we would use wisdom in managing our time.
3. Pray that we would be able to raise an additional $2,000 in ministry support by the end of May.
4. Pray for God’s leading and wisdom as we pray about our next step in ministry. There has been a wonderful opportunity given to us but we want to make sure this is God’s will for us.
We are so grateful for your support.
